The choice of location was both meaningful and symbolic KZN became home to the company’s second major operation in 1948, just two years after Aberdare’s founding in Port Elizabeth in 1946. The celebrations began with a meticulously organised factory tour at Aberdare’s spotless Pietermaritzburg facility on 29 July 2026. Despite a gentle rain, the welcoming team greeted arriving guests with branded umbrellas, creating a warm and thoughtful first impression. Visitors were guided through the state-of-the-art production lines, where they observed the intricate cable-manufacturing process from raw materials to finished products. The factory’s sparkling cleanliness drew admiration, with many guests expressing astonishment at the high standards of order and hygiene; some even playfully wondered if the pristine conditions were specially prepared for the occasion. The second leg of KZN’s 80th Anniversary celebration unfolded on 30 July 2026 at the breathtaking, ocean-facing The Capital Zimbali resort. With its sweeping coastal views and elegant ambience, the venue set the perfect stage for a truly memorable evening. The meticulously planned event impressed guests with its seamless organisation and attention to detail, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended. True to local tradition, the festivities began promptly, exemplifying the renowned punctuality of KZN’s people. Upon arrival, guests were greeted by the enchanting sounds of Maremo the Violin, whose live performance in the foyer created an atmosphere of sophistication and anticipation as attendees mingled and awaited the grand opening of the event doors.
