Aberdare Cables remain committed to its standpoint towards the empowerment and development of women. As part of our Women’s Month celebration in August, we reiterated a call for female employees and women in general to stand up and seize the socioeconomic opportunities and participate actively and meaningfully in the mainstream economic activities of the country. We further call on all staff members particularly male employees to play an active role in the fight against gender based violence and all other forms of abuse of women in the workplace, home and our communities

On Wednesday, 08 August 2018, the management invited all female staff members to wear their colourful doeks to pay tribute to all women who played a momentous role in the attainment of a free and democratic South Africa and to honour those women who continue to advocate for women empowerment in different sectors of the society. This was done under the theme, A woman is the full circle. Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform”.

As an agent of social change and responsible corporate citizen with strong Ubuntu values, Aberdare Cables remain determined to contribute in women empowerment. We will continue to engage industry players to open up opportunities for women and ensure balanced gender representation in the entire value chain. Happy Women’s Day!
