Samba, Ramba, Rock, the Waltz…Dance movements associated with the elite of society. But Dance for All (DFA) is transcending societal norms and bringing dance to the disadvantaged youth in Cape Town.
DFA is a non-profit, section 21 company that has been teaching dance to historically disadvantaged children and youth in Cape Town since 1991. The company’s mission is to provide children in historically disadvantaged communities with the opportunity for enjoyment, promotion of self esteem and empowerment through the medium of dance, as well as training professional dancers and developing a unique, indigenous dance company.
Renowned ex-CAPAB Ballet principal, Philip Boyd together with an experienced and talented staff compliment training and nurture the kids at DFA, while Honorary Life Patrons of the organisation include Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Mamphela Ramphele and John Persenda.
