Hong Kong International Terminals (HIT) deployed 17 electric rubber-tyre gantry cranes (eRTGC) on 2 June 2008, kicking off the HKD140million crane-electrification programme that will reduce emissions at Kwai Chung Container Port. HIT is the first operator in Hong Kong to deploy eRTGCs. The project is part of a wider range of initiatives that HIT has launched in recent years to help protect the environment.
Aberdare’s tendered the suppl;y of our renowned 0.6/1kV XLPE power cables through our established network with First-Tech Engineering Limited, a reputable electrical contractor that has been working with Terminal projects since the 80s. Our factory in Port Elizabeth offered the greatest support, thus enabling delivery of a total of 7.6km of cable in 12 weeks and hence meeting the promised delivery date of early September.
Aberdare Cables definitely supports preservation of the environment which will see more of our XLPE power cables replacing the existing system.
