Aberdare supplied millions of Rands worth of cable to the South African Ports Authority in recent years and is now geared up to manufacture for the ongoing Durban Harbour expansion programme in which a total of some R5-billion is to be invested over the next 10 years.
We supply cables directly to the Ports Authority, predominantly low voltage XLPE insulated cables of 600/1000V and medium voltage cables ranging from 6.35/11kV to 19/33kV as well as paper insulated three-core cables in sizes ranging from 35mm2 to 400mm2 in the same voltage range.
In association with consulting and design electrical engineering company Hatch Africa, Aberdare was recently involved in a “most unique” multi million Rand project. This entailed the supply of 11kV and 33kV paper insulated cables installed in a 600m-long concrete tunnel constructed 21m beneath the sea bed in Durban harbour.
