Aberdare Cables is a 71 year old South African cable manufacturer, who has recently been acquired by a Chinese cable manufacturer, Hengtong. The Hengtong group has 33 sales and service institutions, operates in 120 countries, has 9 overseas manufacturing bases and owns 5 brands, including Aberdare. With the company’s vision of international expansion they have invested into South Africa, by investing in Aberdare Cables. Aberdare Cables has 3 manufacturing sites in South Africa and another 1 in Mozambique, additionally with customer service centres in each province. The company employs 1500 people and currently holds a Level 1 BBBEE status, with a make-up of 55% Black ownership and 30% Black Women Owned.
