Aberdare PE aids in Green Energy (2010)

Neslon Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth) is leading the way in “Green” energy. This environmentally conscious province is a step closer to being the first city on the globe to provide GREEN electricity for the FIFA World Cup.

Our Aberdare PE Branch supplied cable to the first wind turbine project in South Africa with the first of 25 units being erected at the Coega industrial development zone

By the end of the project a total investment of R1,2 billion will be made by Belgian based company, ELECTRAWINDS and partners. This wind farm is going be one of the biggest in Africa and it will provide 5,7 million kilowatt hours of electricity which is enough green energy to power about 1700 households for a year.

This unit is scheduled to be connected to the Eskom grid and fed to the world cup stadium in time for the first match in June.
