    Released: 1st March 2011

Leading power cable manufacturer Aberdare Cables has consolidated its Edenvale head office and high technology 12 000m2 warehouse and distribution centre at the Greenhills Industrial Estate near Elandsfontein into new, larger premises on nearby Barbara Road.
Siphithi Sibeko, director of corporate affairs at Aberdare, says the move will accommodate economies of scale while affording the company more flexibility and streamlined administration.

“We are now in a position to better serve our customers from this single point where management, accounts, sales, customer services, warehousing and distribution will be co-located.”

Sibeko adds that Aberdare considers the move to be of strategic value. “This decision was based upon an opportunity that presented itself to consolidate the Edenvale and Greenhills operations into one. The opportunity coincides with our strategic intent of building a globally competitive organisation which is a best in class manufacturing facility accompanied by the latest technologically driven distribution centre coupled with excellent customer care.

The Greenhills facility commenced its move at the end of September and transferred all Aberdare line items in the warehouse (in stages) such as electrical cable and associated products turned out by our factories each month. Office personnel moved in phases and the entire exercise was completed by 9 November 2009.

“The new premises, to be known as the Aberdare Group Operations Centre, are more spacious. We will achieve better synergies by bringing all of our administrative components together under one roof and the additional flexibility that this will generate is important in the present economy,” added Sibeko.

An overall objective of Aberdare is to create a world-class organisation with improved operational efficiencies using the latest technology. “By doing this we’re providing the company with a solid platform for the future whilst also nurturing the growth and development of our valued employees,” concluded Sibeko.
